Psyllium husk

Daily fibre supplement. Helps body's natural toxin removal process via cleansing effect. May assist in stabilizing blood lipids/cholesterol.

Start w/ 1 serving daily, gradually increase to 3 servings daily. Add 5.9 g of powd to at least 250 mL of liqd. Stir briskly & drink promptly. Drink plenty of water.

Patients w/ sudden change in bowel habits persisting for 2 wk; abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, rectal bleeding. May cause an allergic reaction in people sensitive to inhaled or ingested psyllium. Taking the product w/o adequate fluid may cause it to swell & block the throat or oesophagus & may cause choking. Do not use in cases of medication-induced constipation. Do not use in patients w/ swallowing difficulty. Patient may experience changes in bowel habit or minor bloating. Contains phenylalanine. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended for childn <12 yr.

Bulk fibre may affect absorption of other concomitant drugs.
